I think people who are socially inept can change. Assuming that the woman is not socially inept as well, then I think the relationship can work if she's aware that he's socially inept and willing to help the socially inept guy learn how to be more social. The socially inept guy is probably going to have some trust and self-confidence issues, so the woman will have to know how to deal with that. She'll have to be extremely patient and offer lots of sincere encouragement. If she can do that, then the outcome can be very positive since a socially inept guy is quite possibly the most loyal kind of guy there is since such a person is too inept to meet woman on his own. Hell, I'd love it if some woman took notice of me! That's my two-cents, Wolfmanmachine
